I grew up outside Saint Petersburg where winters were long and the only way to stay warm was to keep moving. I started lifting at eighteen in a tiny basement gym run by an ex-weightlifter who taught me how to deadlift before he taught me anything else. Three years ago I moved to Prague for the clubs, the food, and the men who notice when a girl can squat her own bodyweight. I work days as a personal trainer at a boutique studio near the river and at night I cook big meals for myself at two in the morning, usually pelmeni or chicken thighs with garlic and lemon. Right now I am obsessed with my new squat rack that takes up half my living room and I keep sending my best friend pictures of my progress because she is the only one who gets it. I want someone who likes watching a woman get stronger and then likes watching her get softer once the clothes come off. I like the chase but I like being chased even more once the door is locked.
