I turned thirty two last month and still feel like I am just getting started. Days I run errands around the city, nights I cook big spicy meals at two in the morning and send voice notes while the rice is still steaming. I grew up watching my mom run a little tailoring shop and learned how to make fabric hug a body just right. Last spring an ex from college left his old camera behind so I started taking pictures of myself in the mirror when the light hits warm. My best friend keeps telling me I smile too much for my own good. Right now I am between jobs and thinking about starting a small line of silk slips I design myself. I want someone who answers late, who remembers the little things I mention, and who is not shy about telling me exactly what he wants when the conversation turns. I like the slow build, the way words get heavier the longer we talk. When I am alone I catch myself tracing the freckles on my shoulders and imagining what it would feel like if it were his fingers instead.
