I grew up in a loud house on the west side of Chicago where dinner conversations always ran late and someone was always teasing someone else. Those years taught me how to read a room and how to answer back with a grin. Now I split my time between a small marketing agency downtown and the rooftop bar where my friends and I claim the same corner table every Thursday. I cook at strange hours, usually something spicy that fills the whole apartment, and I keep a half-finished crossword on my phone that I only finish when I am on hold with a client. I like people who can keep up with a joke and who do not mind when the conversation drifts into territory that makes us both lean in a little closer. I want someone who texts back quickly because they are thinking about me at the same moment I am thinking about them.
