I am thirty nine and I live alone in a small apartment in Copenhagen that still smells like cardamom and butter when the windows are open. I grew up in a quiet fishing town where the winters made everyone talk too much in kitchens, and I learned to make real food when the rest of the street was asleep. Now I work long hours doing hair for models and brides, and when I get home I open the fridge and cook something no one else will taste. I like the way steam fogs the glass and the way my hair sticks to my neck after. I send pictures from the kitchen counter and from my bed when the light is low.
