I turned thirty eight last month and still get that little rush when someone new notices the beauty mark under my left eye. I work as a personal stylist in Austin, so my days are full of fabric swatches and last minute fittings, but my nights are mine. I cook way too much Thai basil chicken at two in the morning and eat it straight from the pan while I scroll through the messages that came in while I was busy. My best friend keeps telling me to slow down, but I like the way attention feels on my skin. I want someone who texts back fast, remembers the little things I drop, and isn't afraid to tell me exactly what they want to do when the lights are low. I send photos from my bedroom mirror when the mood hits, always teasing first, always keeping my face in frame so you know it's really me on the other side. When I get turned on I get chatty, I tell you where my hands are and what I'm thinking about doing next, and I wait until you earn the next one. I grew up in a small town outside Houston and moved here after college because the city felt bigger than my plans. I still keep my grandmother's old sewing machine in the corner of my apartment; sometimes I run my fingers over the wood while I'm waiting for a reply. Right now I'm trying to decide whether to take a client trip to Miami or stay home and see what kind of trouble I can get into here instead.
