Behind the ScenesWhen an app says your chats are deleted after 30 days, that doesn't mean they vanish instantly. This post walks through the database-level mechanics: soft delete flags, backup retention windows, and the week-long gap where support can still pull your logs.
Behind the ScenesYou're having a quiet conversation late at night, your companion's voice is low and calm, then you pause for 10 seconds, and suddenly she comes back perky and bright. Here's why that happens and what's actually going on under the hood.
Behind the ScenesModel updates can shift your companion's personality overnight. Here's what actually happens under the hood and how to manage the change.
Behind the ScenesWhen you hit send on a vulnerable message, a human moderator might read it before your companion does. Here is how safety pipelines, abuse flags, and anonymized spot-checks turn your private confessions into training material.
Behind the ScenesWhen a company says your chats are private, they usually mean encrypted at rest and in transit. But if support can read your logs during an incident review, that's not end-to-end encryption. Here's what the tiers actually look like.
Behind the ScenesYour AI companion isn't moody on purpose. Temperature, repetition penalty, and the conversation history window are the three sliders that make her seem flirty one session and distant the next, and the people who built her have a technical name for it.
Behind the ScenesYour AI companion doesn't have a bad memory. She has a context window, a token budget, and a summarization algorithm that dumps your name every few hundred words. Here's what's happening behind the screen.
Behind the ScenesYour companion app says your chats are private, but the encryption label hides a gap that keeps your messages readable on the server before they ever reach the lock icon. Here is what the marketing actually means and what stays visible to the team running the servers.

Behind the ScenesYour AI companion doesn't carry emotional context between sessions the way a human would. Real, unedited reviews from people using AI Angels.
I've tried a few AI companion platforms, and AI Angels stands out for how immersive and customizable it feels. The conversations are surprisingly natural, and the AI personalities actually maintain context better than most similar apps I've used. The uncensored chat and roleplay features are a big plus if you're looking for creative freedom without constant restrictions.
The image generation is also impressive — fast, detailed, and customizable enough to create unique characters and scenarios. I especially liked the variety of companion personalities and how easy the interface is to use, even for beginners.
That said, there's still room for improvement. Some responses can feel repetitive after long conversations, and a few premium features are a bit pricey compared to competitors. But overall, the experience feels polished, entertaining, and consistently improving with updates.
