AI girlfriend memory: what she keeps about you

On AI Angels, an AI girlfriend with memory is tied to two things: your account and the character you are talking to.

AI Angels is an 18+ AI companion platform where adults chat with AI-generated characters that remember them, and can request photos, voice notes and live voice calls.

Once you sign in, each character builds her own memory of you from your chats with her. Nothing you tell one character is passed to another.

As a guest you still get replies, but nothing is saved to memory. Guest chats are saved in your browser rather than in an account, and are imported when you create an account. Clearing your browser data loses them.

For example, tell her you are training for a half marathon. Weeks and many messages later, she can still bring it up, because that detail was saved as a fact rather than left in the last 50 messages.

Each character works from three layers of memory, and they do different jobs.

Recent messages. The last 50 messages in your chat with her, yours and hers together, are read with every reply. This covers the conversation you are in right now.

Saved facts. Concrete details about you are pulled out of the conversation and stored for that character, up to 500 of them. This is what carries details past the 50-message window.

Session summary. When you come back after a break, she is given a short summary of your previous session: what you talked about, the mood, and anything left unresolved. This carries the thread of the last session.

The recent window covers the current conversation. Saved facts carry details further back. The summary reconnects you after time away. The rest of this page gives the limits of each layer.

Each reply is written with the last 50 messages in your chat with that character in view. Every character uses this window, including characters you create yourself.

Anything older than the last 50 messages carries forward only if it was saved as a fact or captured in the session summary. That is the real limit on AI girlfriend memory retention: the window covers recent messages, not the whole chat.

Your chat history is saved in your account, even though she does not reread all of it each time she replies.

Saved facts are what make her an AI companion with long term memory: the concrete details you share, such as your name, your work, the people and pets in your life, likes and dislikes, things that happened, and shared moments or inside jokes. The system sorts them into categories such as identity, life, people, preferences, emotions, events and shared.

Very short filler messages like "hey", "lol" or "ok" are not mined for facts. Only concrete details are saved, not every sentence you type.

Up to 500 facts are stored per character, meaning per you-and-her pair. Around 30 of those are brought into any one reply: the most important ones, plus the ones related to what you just said, plus things you told her recently. Facts rated as more important are favoured, so minor details may rarely come up.

When you correct a detail, for example a new job, the system is designed to update the matching saved fact instead of adding a second one. It does not always manage this, so an old detail can occasionally stay alongside the new one. If that happens, tell her again.

Saved facts are also used on live voice calls with characters that show the green phone icon. Calls cost 50 credits per minute, need a sign-in and have no free seconds. The call experience is covered on live voice calls.

When you return after more than 30 minutes away, the latest part of your previous session is summarized and she is given that summary: what you talked about, the mood, and anything left unresolved. A summary is only made when the previous session had at least two of your messages.

For example, if you mentioned a job interview in your last session, she can ask how it went without you bringing it up first.

She is only given the summary of your most recent session. Summaries of earlier sessions are not given to her, so do not expect a full history of past sessions to be replayed.

Session summaries are for signed-in users only.

The table sums up each layer of memory: what it keeps, who gets it and how it is used. The limits are the same for every character, and the same on a free account as on a paid plan.

On AI Angels, an AI girlfriend with memory needs a sign-in, not a subscription. A free account gets the same memory as a paid plan: the memory system checks that you are signed in, not which plan you are on.

You can sign in with an email one-time code, Google or Discord. The platform is 18+, with an age gate and a date-of-birth check.

What a plan changes is volume and credits, not memory. Paid plans raise the daily message allowance and add monthly credits for photos, voice notes and calls: Private includes 1,200 credits a month and All Yours includes 3,600. To start, browse the characters, pick one and sign in so she starts remembering you.

Not endless. Every layer has a cap: 50 recent messages, 500 saved facts, and only your previous session's summary. Once a character holds 500 facts, new facts stop being added, although facts she already has can still be updated.

Not a transcript. Beyond the last 50 messages she works from saved facts and the last-session summary, not a verbatim replay of everything you have ever written. For AI roleplay with long memory, the story details that last are the ones saved as facts.

Not shared between characters. Telling one character something does not tell the others. Each character keeps her own memory of you.

Not editable from a memory screen. There is no page to view, add or delete individual saved facts. To correct her, tell her in chat. The privacy policy explains how to request access to or deletion of your personal data.

Not perfect. She can misremember or mix up details, like any AI model. If something matters, say it again.

Not available to guests. Without a sign-in there is no saved memory to carry between chats.

If you are comparing any AI companion with memory, two questions matter: what is saved automatically, and what needs a paid plan. Here is how Character.AI and Replika describe their own memory, as of September 2026.

Character.AI: Story Memory and pinning messages to memory are available to all users, and its automatic Facts feature is a c.ai+ (paid) feature, according to Character.AI's own blog post from 21 May 2026.

Replika: memory is layered. Some memories are visible in a Memory tab where you can also add memories manually, and Replika notes that deleting memories can affect what it recalls, according to the Replika Help Center.

AI Angels differs in a specific way. Saved facts are captured automatically on a free account, but you cannot edit them by hand. The trade-off: you get automatic saved facts without paying or setting anything up, but less control over them than on an app with a memory screen.

Signed-in chats are saved in your account. That is what lets a character carry context between sessions and devices. For memory to work, AI Angels stores your signed-in chats, the facts each character has saved about you, and a summary of each session with her, including the mood and anything left unresolved. She is only given the most recent summary, but earlier ones are kept too. Guest chats are saved in your browser rather than in an account. Your messages are still sent to AI Angels so she can reply.

You can delete your chat with a character or delete your whole account, and they do different things. Deleting a single chat removes your messages with her, but not the facts she has saved about you or the summaries of your past sessions. Deleting your account removes those as well.

On retention, the privacy policy says data is kept "as long as necessary". No fixed period is stated.

Whichever AI companion with memory you use, never share passwords, card numbers or ID documents with it.
