But one fact structures our whole read: in September 2024, Muah.AI was breached (an incident confirmed by Have I Been Pwned), exposing roughly 1.9 million email addresses along with the prompts users had submitted, much of it sexual in nature. The attacker described the backend as loosely stitched-together open-source projects. Read that ladder honestly: the features that make Muah's pitch distinctive (deeper memory, live calls) sit at price points above almost every competitor's top plan, and what the disputed $9.99–19.99 entry actually buys is reportedly shallow-memory basics. Honestly, a narrow buyer: someone whose filters are uncensored, free to start, and on my phone (Muah clears all three where most rivals fail at least one), and who has genuinely made peace with the 2024 breach rather than skimmed past it. That means using an email that connects to nothing else, assuming anything typed could someday become public, and paying (if at all) by a method they're comfortable with. Within those constraints, Muah offers something real: corroborated uncensored chat with photo requests, a free tier to test it, and a feature ceiling (voice, expanded memory, even real-time phone calls) that scales if you climb the tier ladder. Top-tier buyers who specifically want live calls with an uncensored companion have very few alternatives at any price. If that's the exact shape of your need and your operational discipline is genuinely tight, it's on the list, but go in with both eyes open.

Stated factually: in September 2024, Muah.AI suffered a data breach, confirmed by Have I Been Pwned, that exposed approximately 1.9 million email addresses together with the prompts users had submitted to their companions, content that was in many cases sexual, and in some reported cases described child exploitation, which drew significant press coverage. The attacker who claimed the breach described Muah's backend as a handful of open-source projects loosely stitched together. That is the privacy record; everything else here is secondary. We found no published evidence of a comprehensively rebuilt security posture since, and because the site is bot-gated, we could not review its current policies first-hand. What this means practically: if you evaluate Muah at all, assume the chat content you create could become associated with your email address in a future incident, because that is precisely what happened to 1.9 million people last time. Use an email that connects to nothing else, and weigh whether any feature on the tier ladder is worth that exposure.
