The homepage looks like any adult dating site. You pick man or woman and who you are looking for, choose a region (England by region, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, plus options for the US, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada and Malta) and join. Sample profiles show first names and ages, and the copy promises one-night stands, swingers and friends with benefits, and claims that more than 65% of users meet a partner within their first week.

The General Terms and Conditions of Use paint a different picture. They define the service as telecommunications entertainment and describe Shag as an online platform created to facilitate conversations in an erotic environment between your profile and the existing profiles of Shag.
